Experiment Research Of Legibility About LED Active Luminous Traffic Signs

Nowadays,road traffic safety has become the focus of attention from all walks of life object with the rapid development of technology,under the condition of the increasing density of road network and the high quality of social service.The transport sector scholars have been rushed to the front of traffic safety research work to improve its services level unremitting efforts.However,today’s road traffic safety problems are mostly in the “first problem after the program” model.The operating road there is still many undiscovered potential security risks that seriously threaten the road users of personal and property safety.For the road traffic signs,as an important part of road safety facilities,the problem of refusing high beam can easily lead to accidents because of reflective signs’ low vision in poor visibility conditions.In such a severe situation,it is urgent to develop the LED active luminous traffic signs with excellent viewability.Currently,however,the research results of legibility about LED active luminous traffic signs at home and abroad are still less,and the research data of the corresponding technical indicators is still lacking,all of these have become a barrier to block the promotion and popularization of LED active luminous traffic signs.Thus,the LED active luminous guide signs which are designed on the middle ring road of Taiyuan city and the same type of reflective film signs are treated as the research object.And the legibility of traffic signs is carried out under the day and night conditions with the Leica S910 handheld laser rangefinder.Besides,the influence degree of each factor on legibility and the relational degree of factors are analyzed,through the study of effective test data and the gray correlation model.Then,the economy of the LED active luminous traffic signs is evaluated and analyzed with the help of the example,base on the value engineering theory,the economic evaluation index and the method.Results show that the legibility of traffic signs recognized by drivers is related to external environment and driver’s condition.The legibility of LED active luminous traffic signs in day and night has little difference,but much better than the legibility of reflective film signs at night.The value made by LED active luminous traffic signs far outweigh their costs,which worth to make further research and discussion because of their superior beneficial economy.Research results not only effectively reduce the traffic accident rate of road traffic safety,but also provide a theoretical basis for the further research in this area,which have certain value in reference,development and popularization.
