Abstract/Summary:
Supercavitation technology is one of the most effective methods of underwater vehicles drag reduction,and is capable of achieving drag reduction over 90%.With the increasing demand for rapid maneuverability of modern underwater weapons,supercavitation technology will have a significant impact on the future underwater weapons.In this paper,the supercavitating vehicle configuration design and layout were further explored,a series of numerical simulation cases on the hydrodynamics of supercavitating vehicles were also carried out.The main contents and results of this research are as follows:Control equations for cavitation flow computation were established based on VOF multiphase model.A new PANS turbulence model was compiled using the open source software OpenFOAM,some validation cases were also carried out.A new hydrofoil was designed for supercavitating vehicles.The designed supercavitating hydrofoil is composed of a wedge wingtip and a rectangular wing.The results shows that the newly designed hydrofoil has a good performance on cavity stability and liftdrag ratio when compared with traditional supercavitating hydrofoils.A hydrodynamic configuration design scheme for supercavitating vehicle was proposed based on the supercavitation fundamentals and some key performance parameters.The design of cavitator,control surface and hull shape of supercavitating vehicle were discussed in detail.Numerical simulations were carried to study the supercavitation flow field of high-speed underwater supercavitating vehicles.The development process of cavity shape during the accelerating stage of underwater supercavitating vehicle was present in this paper.The impact of small angle of attack on the cavity shape and hydrodynamic of the vehicle was estimated,the hydrodynamics characteristic was also obtained.Finally,the interaction between control faces and mian cavity of the supercavitating vehicle was fully examined.The numerical simulation results provides theoretical basis for the design of supercaviting vehices.To conclude,this dissertation has a systemtic approach on the issue of supercavitating vehicle hydrodynamic configuration and layout design and hydrodynamics characteristic analysis.It could offer technology support for the high speed underwater supercavitating vehicle design.
