In the knowledge economy and innovation booming age,to construct a innovative sociatyhas been included in the strategic of country level.As an important force of scientific research and regional innovation,univercity takes the role of creating innovative knowledge and offering scientific talents.Our nation has proposed to build plenty of high-level research universities and collaborative innovation center.To answer this call,some key universities have put forward the goal of building college Makerspace."Innovation" and "scientific research" are the key concerns during the development of Chinese univercities,but also could be the designer’s blind spot.Although makerspace has swept over univercities all around China,lack of features and can not meet the needs of user of are the main weekness of all.In fact,theoretical guidance has already lagged behind the practical application.At present in the academic circles,the research on makerspace is mainly concentrated in the library space,most of which is related to foreign case research or introduction of the maker education and maker culture.As a new space pattern,college makerspace has not been well studied by domestic environmental design academic.There is no systematic solution to the problems and contradictions may exist of this space pattern.Both of theory and reality levels are in blank.This paper combines the theory with the practice case,analyzes the existing problems,and concludes some suitable design methods and principles for development of makerspace,could be a good reference for building maker space in univercity.After analyzed the concept of univercity makerspace,this paper reviews the background and the development history,and emphasizes the value and significance of it.Secondly,based on the literature,network and real space investigation,author find that there are some problems such as incomplete spatial type,lack of characteristics and lack of participation.As per "people-oriented" design principle,and in order to meet the user’s requirements of behavior,psychology and aesthetic aspects.Author point out that it is necessary to divide the spatial form according to makers’ feeling and emotion.Based on the type of maker behavior to divide spatial functions,and change the visual form to meet the makers’ aesthetic and design.This paper introduces the collaborative research,"STEAM" education,environmental psychology and other disciplines as the research support,on this basis,use deductive and empirical research methods,deep diving to domestic and foreign outstanding cases,finally based on the experience of successful cases,Summed up some views to answer the questionof "how to design a college makerspace".For instance,the construction of makerspace in universities should obtain the support from enterprise;highlight their own advantages;to ensure that the space function is complete,has plenty of facilities;put more intresting design to increase spacical interaction,combine of autonomy and guidance principles,by using of color matching,material selection and flexible furniture and other design techniques to enhance the vitality of space.
