With the rapid development of Chinese high-speed rail,the problems of the EMU operation growth sharply,the problem of wheel wear is particularly prominent among them.Wheel wear will seriously affect the safety and comfort of the EMU,also determine the operation and maintenance cost of the vehicle directly.It's the effective way to solve the problem of the wheel lathing regularly,however,it will produce not only a large amount of lathing,and will shorten the service life of the wheel,if the target of wheel lathing is the tread prototype.The wheel tread of economic lathing,not only can greatly reduce the amount of metal cutting and improve work efficiency,but also can increase the service life of the wheel,and remarkably improve the operation economy of the vehicle.The scientific lathing methods have a positive impact on improving the comfort and vehicle operation economy.It is found by a railway operation management that too much metal removal of the LMD wheel tread used in CRH1 EMU under its jurisdiction while lathing raise the EMU maintenance cost and it is urgent to design a kind of economical lathing method.Taking the LMD wheel tread used in CRH1 EMU as the objects of study,the regularity of lathing wheel is analyzed by the measurement of wheel profile and wear tracking test of the EMU and the LMD series economical thin wheel tread with 28-32 mm thickness(every 1mm as a wheel tread)is designed in this paper.The main research contents are as follows:(1)The wheel tread lathing regularity was analyzed and the LMD series economical thin wheel tread with 28-32 mm thickness was designed based on a lot of measured data.Calculation and comparison of the economy of LMD thin wheel tread and LMD prototype tread indicates that economy of LMD thin wheel tread had a greatly enhance.(2)Vehicle dynamics model was created by the software UM.The vehicle dynamics performance of LMD thin wheel tread and LMD prototype tread were calculated and contrasted.The research result shows that the dynamic performance of LMD thin wheel tread was similar to LMD prototype tread and meets the requirements of safe operation.The security of design was verified.(3)Firstly,the lathing effect of the LMD thin wheel flange tread was verified employing waste wheel-set.Then all the train wheels were lathed after qualified verification and the assessment work were carried out within a lathing cycle.The results show that the method was feasible and can be applied to the service of EMU.
