Reciprocating pump pump cover casting is an important part of pump,it plays a key role for secure and normal operation of reciprocating pump.Therefore,higher requirements of casting and it need to meet the requirement of water pressure test.The materials of reciprocating pump pump cover casting is ZG15Cr12.Because the casting is big thick,about 3200 kg,and the wall thickness is not uniform,enterprise founds that it is easy to produce porosity shrinkage,adhering sand defects with production of castings.So,these defects not only influence the quality of the castings and cannot meet the needs of the customers,but bring the economic loss for enterprise.To solve the problems in the production of enterprise,this article reaserches them and put forward the solutions.This topic introduces the original process of casting which enterprise produces reciprocating pump pump cover.The original process is simulated by using Any Casting software which predicting shrinkage defects of casting that may occur.The measures about process optimization are put forward through the analysis of defect formation so that the defects are resolved.The new process project is designed on account of the low process yield of the original process which optimized.The new process is simulated and there is still at the shrinkage defects of casting which predicted.The optimization scheme is raised through the analysis of the reasons.So compact structure and qualified castings are produced and the process production rate is higher than the original plan.The measures of process improvement are proposed to avoid the adhering sand defects about aiming at the problem of adhering sand in local hot spots.Using ProCAST software which studies the influences of microstructure about ZG15Cr12 steel with pouring temperature.This topic solves the technological issues with numerical simulation technology which encountered in the actual productive process of reciprocating pump pump cover casting in enterprise.The porosity shrinkagesand adhering defects of the originalprocessing plan are eliminated;a new forming technology is put forward;the problem of local adhering sand castings is solved.The research is completed preliminary about pouring temperature on the microstructure of ZG15Cr12 steel and makes a foundation for the following in-depth study.
