The danger of traffic accidents makes people pay more and more attention to the safety and reliability of car driving.As the key components of the car brake system,whether the brakes are safe and reliable and their performance are directly related to the safety of the car's driving safety.Practice has proved that the design of the product has a decisive effect on the inherent reliability of the product.Drum brake is widely used in various types of passenger cars,trucks and some cars' rear wheels,to ensure its safety and reliability,optimize its overall performance,improve its design level has important practical significance.In this paper,we combined the time-varying reliability design and the optimization design,namely used time-varying reliability optimization design to optimize the drum brakes.Firstly,according to the problem that the reliability of the drum brake is affected by various factors in the process of using the drum brake,the time-varying reliability of the drum brake is proposed as a constraint condition for the optimization design mathematical model of the drum brake.After studying the design method of mechanical time-varying reliability,the method of calculating the time-dependent reliability of drum brakes is given according to the change of braking distance..Secondly,the design and calculation method of the drum brakes and the various performance conditions that the drum brakes need to be satisfied are studied.The calculation method of design variables,the objective function and the constraints of the optimization design of the drum brakes are determined.Then,the mathematical model of the time-varying reliability optimization design of drum brakes is established.The objective function are the braking performance factor,the volume of brake and the temperature rise of the brake.Finally,an example is given to apply the particle swarm optimization method and MATLAB software based on the penalty function to optimize the solution.As the result of the optimization,the braking efficiency of the drum brake was increased by 9.14% and the brake temperature was reduced by 19.84%.The optimization results show that the method is effective and the performance of the drum brake is improved.And the ANSYS software is used to do finite element analysis of the drum brake.The results show that the reliability of the brakes has been improved.
