Research On The Interaction Of Folk Customs And Landscape Environ

“One village,one surname,one drum tower ”,Drum Tower is the building with unique style in Dong county.It stands upright with majestic style,the hanging eaves of each layer form its tower shape.The Drum Tower is the most distinguishing symbol of Dong people's ethnic group and also the place of meeting and entertainment activities.The author found the inseparable relationship between the drum tower and the Dong culture through the research,the interaction and alternate expression of them evolved into a particular culture of the Dong and Drum Tower Building after a long history.From the current domestic and overseas research,the researches on the interaction relationship between landscape architecture and folk customs are very limited,needless to say the researches on the interaction of the Drum Tower and the Dong nationality folk custom,or even can be said it is still the blank fields.And there are few researches results come from the researches based on the folk custom and landscape from the perspective of the interaction relationship.People's daily life,interpersonal relationships and social spirit are still influenced greatly by the Drum Tower today.Visit the local Dong people,listening to their old stories from ancestor,that takes me to the distant past,the mysterious age of Dong family;learning the architectural technology of Drum Tower from Yang siyu--wooden building master of Dong;visiting each Dong county and distributing the questionnaires;exploring the ancient Kuant Stela and Kuant Ci among the ancient mountains and forests,gaining rich research materials all the way.This paper takes the Drum Tower in Sanjiang County,Guangxi Province as an example,to establish a research framework based on behavior--environment--behavior,discussing the interaction relationship between the Drum Tower and the folk custom from three aspects: 1)How did the Dong folk custom determine the building form,construction process,social status and social function of the Drum Tower? 2)How did the Drum Tower react on the Dong folk culture,making the Drum Tower to become the significant symbol and carrier of the formation and inheritance of folk customs as Dong spiritual folk custom,cultural folk customs,social organization structure folk custom,etc ? 3)How did the the Dong folk custom and the Drum Tower interact and change alternately in the long history?According to the research on the above questions,we believe that the research of the interaction between folk custom and landscape has enlightenment significance to the modern landscape design major.1)Modern landscape design need to integrate building and environmental design into the folk culture,in other words,the integration of the landscape design and the local folk culture should be considered;2)How to guide the trend of values through the modern landscape design,promoting good folk customs to encourage good behaviors and restraining the feudal folk customs to avoid bad behaviors.Finally,this paper discusses the principles to improve the modern folk custom landscape design(such as the coordination and unification of the function and the folk custom principle,folk custom inheritance and innovation principle,satisfy the requirements principle,all round participation in the entire process principle,etc),available techniques(flexible use of metaphor,protect the folk culture,strive to cultivate the spirit of place)and so on.
