Typhoon is a kind of disaster weather phenomenon which is frequent in the southeast of China. As the rapid development of its economy in this region, many high-rise buildings have been built and more high-rise buildings will be built. Therefore, the study of the wind resistance design of hign-rise buildings in this area, besides referring to the load code for the design of building structures, also should be done by researching on the properties of the typhoon field. In this paper, the study of the nature of typhoon field and the wind effect on high-rise buildings is carried out through the following three aspects.Based on six typhoon events in Guangdong Province, the quality of the original typhoon data should be controlled and the characteristics of turbulence parameters should be analyzed.Accoding to the criterion of ground roughness length that is from the American Code for Load, the roughness length of the samples in the six typhoon events will be divided into four kinds of site, which are consist of A-site,B-site,C-site and D-site.In addition, referring to the standard of the stratified atmospheric stability, the samples of each site category are divided into unstable stratification, neutral stratification and stable stratification.According to the above two criteria, the turbulence parameters of the corresponding typhoon samples will be extracted and the statistical values which are in different site, different atmospheric stratification and different heights will be calculated.Based on the turbulence parameters in the above conditions, the best probability distribution function of the turbulence ratio, the turbulence intensity, the turbulence integral scale, the peak factor and the gust factor will be fixed by the K-S test.In order to solve the problem that the discreteness of turbulence parameters due to the difference of heights and the difference of site, based on the typhoon data and referring to the computation model of turbulence parameters that are provided by the Engineering Sciences Data Unit, the transformation model of turbulence parameters including turbulence intensity, turbulence integral scale, peak factor and gust factor are established. The model will transform the above four parameters which are in the different heights, different site into the corresponding values that are in the target site. Then the characteristic values of the turbulence parameters should be analyzed and should also be contrast with the recommended values that are provided by the Load Code. Finally, the best probability distribution function of the above four parameters should be fixed by the K-S test.In order to deal with the revelance among the turbulence intensities, the turbulence integral scales and the peak factors,a joint probability distribution function about the above three parameters will be established on the basis of the copula function.Based on the joint probability distribution function and the edge probability distribution function of the above three parameters which are in the A-site and in the neutral stratification, the study of the background response factor, the resonance response factor, the wind vibration coefficient, the acceleration response and the displacement response of a typical high-rise building will be done by analyzing the uncertainty of the above turbulence parameters.
