Ice slurry is a solid-liquid phase fluid composed of solution and ice particles.It is widely used in life and engineering due to its excellent cold carrying capacity.Instead ice slurry of the traditional chilled water for cooling in air-conditioning system,can not only improve refrigeration effect,but also reduce the costs of investment and operating of the project.The cold transfer is an important part of cold supply,so it is of great theoretical significance and practical value to know the flow characteristics of ice slurry in the pipeline,the cooling load and the thermodynamic characteristics of the ice slurry.In this paper,the flow characteristics in the pipeline,cooling and thermodynamic characteristics of ice slurry generated by ethanol solution has been detailed analyzed and researched.The results showed as follows:The ice mass fraction,flow rate,diameter of tube and ice crystals directly affect the flow characteristics of ice slurry flow in the tube.According to the Renolds number of liquid phase and ice mass fraction of ice slurry in initial state,the flow characteristics can be divided into three regions: when the Reynolds number of liquid phase is less than 2300,it can be defined as completely laminar region;when Reynolds number of liquid phase is greater than 2300,and the ice ice mass fraction is less than the critical value,it can be define as fully turbulent region;and the the ice ice mass fraction is larger than the critical value,the relaminarization region.On this basis,the corresponding calculation models were improved,and it was proved that these models could well predict the ice slurry flow characteristics in the above three areas.Cold carrying capacity and pumping power had been comprehensive considered when evaluating the cooling characteristic of ice slurry.The ratio of cold carrying capacity and pumping power can be used as the evaluation index to confirm the cooling characteristics of ice slurry.If the velocity and diameter are constant,there must be a cooling characteristic of optimal operating point.Under the condition of the minimum velocity of ice slurry,the lower the flow rate,the better the cooling load characteristics.The thermodynamic properties of ice slurry are analyzed,the effect of solution concentration,ice concentration and outdoor dry bulb temperature on the exergy consumption and exergy efficiency of ice slurry,and the product of ratio of flow rate of chilled water and ice slurry and the coefficient of exergy consumption or exergy efficiency can be used to evaluate the exergy characteristics and economy of ice slurry,the performance of ice slurry isthe best when the solution concentration is 15%.
