The rapid development of transportation system, especially the urban traffic network brings the convenience to our lives, but it also exacerbates the traffic congestion and other environmental pollution issues. This paper aims at solving the problem of the cooperative control of vehicles and traffic lights in urban road network.Firstly, the paper presents a vehicle low fuel consumption eco-driving system based on anticipating the traffic lights state. We formulate a dynamic model of the fuel vehicles based on the road condition and Newton's Second Law of Motion. In order to obtain the vehicle reference velocity to pass the green light with avoiding braking condition. We study the driving condition when the vehicle passes the single light and the continuous multiple lights separately with the traffic light state information measured by the system. Then we compute the optimal control input of the vehicle, with the MPC method. In this paper,we use Laguerre function method to solve the problem of the MPC.The Laguerre function method not only improves the accuracy of solution, but also decreases the computing load, compared with the traditional method. Then the paper investigates the control problem of a self-adaptive traffic light based on the platoon speed. The objective is to make the platoon pass the green light by adjust dynamically the state of light. The Leader-following model is used to make sure the control of platoon. This paper not only realizes the cooperative control of vehicles and traffic lights in the urban network, but also avoids the unnecessary waiting and braking-starting operation in the intersection. It can reduce the fuel consumption effectively and relieve urban traffic congestion.
