In this thesis, anti-icing paints for pavement were prepared by modifying the pavement painting(polyurethane) with various anti-icing fillers that contains inorganic salts. This type of painting could be coated on both the new and old pavement.Furthermore, the painting also exhibited good anti-icing performance, durability and slip resistance. The main research content and results were summarized as follows:(1) Firstly, commercial anti-icing filler(IceBane) were added into polyurethane for modification. It was revealed that the anti-icing ability was increased with increasing filler content. The water droplet froze at-5.4 ? on the surface of the painting with 30%weight percentage of Ice Bane. The painting lost its anti-icing property after 10 times of measurement.(2) Secondly, NaCl-Diatomite anti-icing filler with surface hydrophobicity was prepared to improve the durability of the anti-icing paint. After diatomite was modified with methyltriethoxysilane, the filler exhibited hydrophobicity. The paint possessed anti-icing performance after 20 times of test, which was better than the paint modified by Ice Bane. Moreover, the paint with 30% filler weight percentage could prevent the surface droplet from icing at a temperature as low as-6.3?.(3) Thirdly, potassium formate was also be chosen to prepared the anti-icing filler for the purpose of decreasing the adverse impacts of chlorine salt on the environment. The results indicated that the potassium formate based filler exhibited the similar anti-icing property compared with the chlorine salt. After mixed with hydrophobic modified diatomite powder, the mixed material possessed hydrophobicity. The painting exhibited anti-icing properties after 20 cycles of measurement.(4) Finally, in order to evaluate the the practical properties of the paint on road,the friction coefficient, deicing property and anti-icing property outdoors were systematically measured. It was revealed that the friction coefficient is satisfied for road application. The icing could be prevent on the paint surface in practical icing environment. Furthermore, the ice could be easily removed due to the weak adhesion between the ice and the paint.
