Plastic floor(Luxury Vinyl Tile, LVT) has many excellent performances and been widely used in offices, sports facilities, entertainment venues and family. LVT is a kind of material which is difficult to cut, it is due to that as main components of LVT, polyvinyl chloride has poor thermal stability and good plastic, CaCO3 has high hardness and poor brittleness, good tensile and high hardness are the main properties of fiberglass mesh which lead to rapid tool wear and non-normal wear like chipping. Currently cutting parameters of LVT are referred on cutting parameters of laminated flooring, there is few related reports about LVT cutting performance in domestic and foreign. The paper will study on cutting performance of LVT systematically, and verifiy optimized parameters in actual production.Using a diamond cutter, study on the influence of cutting parameters and cutting material on cutting forces, analyze the trends of cutting forces with different cutting parameters and cutting material during single factor tests. Response surface design is used to establish binary regression model of cutting force, and analyze the interactions between different factors, and verify the reliability of the model.Using infrared temperature measurement technology, measure cutting temperature during cutting LVT with different cutting parameters and cutting objects, analyze the effect of cutting parameters and cutting objects on cutting temperature, then obtain significant factors and build cutting temperature binary regression model using response surface design. Analyzing the interactions between different factors, and verify the reliability of the model.During single factor experiments, research on the trends of surface roughness with different cutting parameters and cutting objects. To establish binary regression model of the significant factors and surface roughness, optimize cutting parameters using response surface design method.True color confocal microscopes, stereo microscopes, tools microscope, environmental scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy are used to measure wear datas of tools with different rake angles in a wear cycle, analyze the relationship of rake angle, cutting temperature, surface roughness and tool wear. Morphology of wear tools and wear mechanism were analyzed.Based on the optimized cutting parameters derived from experimental research, parameters of production equipments and production requirements, A piece of tool for finishing cutting for groove of LVT is designed, electric current are measured using clamp meter and total production are recorded respectively during producting LVT with original and optimized finishing cutting tools in one grinding cycle, the trends of current for original and optimized finishing cutting tools are analyzed and compared.
