With the deepening of the study of tribology,the research of tribology has developed from macro-scale to micro-scale.A large number of experiments show that the surface micro-geometrical morphology plays a decisive role in the tribological properties of the friction pair.Appropriate surface micro-geometrical morphology can improve the lubrication and improve the wear performance.Cylinder liner and piston ring are important friction pairs in automobile.How to reduce the friction between the cylinder liner and the piston ring has been the subject of the engine manufacturersLaser technology is the most commonly used in automotive engine cylinder surface processing technology,which is low cost,high efficiency,operability,can process a variety of shapes of surface microstructure.However,the principle of laser processing technology to remove the material is the use of high-temperature melting of the workpiece surface.This will result in the workpiece surface material crystal structure is destroyed,which cannot form a regularmicrostructure surface.In order to find out the method of machining the regular micro-structure surface,this paper propose to use ultra precision machine tool to cut the micro-structure surface.Hypereutectic Al Si alloy has been chosen as the material for processing.This material is the main material of the engine cylinder liner.The cutting tools are made of single crystal diamond.According to the theory of fluid lubrication,the micro-structural parameters are determined.Combined with the configuration of the ultra precision machine tool,the micro groove structure surface is selected.Finite element analysis of single crystal diamond turning of silicon aluminum alloy has been carried out by finite element software Advantedge.The influence of feed rate,cutting speed and cutting depth on the cutting process is analyzed,and the appropriate range of cutting parameters is obtained.Then,the experiment of cutting silicon aluminum alloy is carried out.The effect of cutting parameters on the machined surface roughness was studied by cutting experiments.The experimental parameters of the micro groove structure of the machined surface are determined.The surface micro groove structure was fabricated on the surface of silicon aluminum alloy.Fabrication of micro groove structures using femtosecond laser processing of the same structural parameters.Comparison of friction experiments of micro groove structures,surfaces and smooth surfaces machined by ultra precision machine tools.The possibility of reducing the friction of micro groove machined surface by ultra precision machine tool is verified.
