As is known, China is the world's most populous country, and the majority of the people's most urgent needs are to solve the housing problem and improve the living environment and standards. Thus, it is necessary to impel the residential industrialization(RI)to fulfill the requirement for housing construction in China, and the RI has become the trend of the development of housing construction. Currently, the most widely used RI housing system is mainly reinforced concrete(RC) and light steel structures. The superiority in mechanical performance of concrete-filled steel tube(CFST) structural system can be employed when CFST is introduced into the area of RI, and this is meaningful for further promoting RI.The application of CFST in prefabricated residence is preliminarily discussed and the main contents in this thesis are as follows:(1) The development of RI at home and abroad and the detail way for developing RI in China were summarized based on reading the relevant literature. Moreover, the prospects of using steel-concrete composite structures in RI were elaborated through the comparison of the prefabricated RC and light steel housing system.(2) Three types of the prefabricated steel beam to CFST column joint were proposed based on the characteristics of the prefabricated structures and the related engineering practice,and the assembling process of the prefabricated steel beam to CFST column joint was further elaborated.(3) Based on the theoretical model developed using ABAQUS, the finite element analysis of the cast-in-place steel beam to CFST column joint and three types of the prefabricated steel beam to CFST column joint was carried out to verify the reliability of the latter, and the influencing rule of main parameters on the main performance of the prefabricated steel beam to CFST column joint was also analysed.(4) The assembling technology for the prefabricated CFST structures was presented based on the code for the prefabricated RC structures and the related project cases, and then the superiority of the prefabricated CFST structures in raising work efficiency and saving time was stated.
