Manual boring is still used in China for the processing of the joint hole which connects the main landing gear to the fuselage in the assembly of a large aircraft.Since manual boring is difficult to achieve the design requirements,it's necessary to study the advancing boring technology for the finishing of the joint hole, and update the conventional process in the assembly of a large aircraft,to improve finishing efficiency, assembly quality and shorten assembly cycle.Boring robot technology involves many disciplines such as robotics, integrated control technology, laser calibration measurement, mechanical design, and computer technology.In-depth study and application of robot boring technology, not only fill the gaps in the domestic aviation industry in the field, but also enhance the international competitiveness of domestic aircraft products, promote the development of domestic aviation industry.Firstly, discussing is made on the research at home and abroad on the finishing technology for the joint hole in the main landing gear. Then mechanical modeling, force and strength analysis are made on the boring system comprising a KUKA industrial robot and an end effector. And then, design is made in detail on the end effector.Lastly, the robot boring parameters are analyzed and optimized experimentally,to fulfill the manufacturing requirements on the joint hole.Based on the above modeling, analysis and experiments,it's shown that the designed robot boring system fulfills the design requirements, and besides it's found that the change of robot attitude and the pressing angle at end effector can effectively lower the magnitude of vibration during boring.
