| Rammed earth is an ancient construction method.Although it gradually fade out of the mainstream construction technology during the development of industrial civilization.The ecological and cultural value of rammed earth is still worthy of attention.Since the 1970 s,architect in western countries began to explore the improvement of traditional rammed earth technology and the way to make it modern.During that time,more and more architecture based on updated rammed earth technology built up.Modern rammed earth architecture became a member of modern architecture.This paper takes the case of modern rammed earth architecture as the research object.Through a wide range of case studies,the cases are sort by region.As the core of this study,the research on the case of modern rammed earth building is done from all aspects related to architectural design practice.On the one hand,the research is based on architectural design,including the background,the site,the strategies and the function.On the other hand,it is based on the analysis of modern rammed earth technology,including its construction technology,construction means,detailed structure,wall shape,color,texture and so on.Case study focuses on the interaction between modern rammed earth construction technology and architectural design,in order to find out the relationship between the modern rammed earth construction technology and the architectural design from concept stage to construction stage.The author selected 18 modern rammed earth architectures which were well-known in different areas.The study is based on collecting,sorting and analyzing the information of the 18 cases.The author tried to convey the relationship between the modern rammed earth construction technology and the architectural design by texts,photographs and illustrations.The studying of the cases can be used as experience and reference during design modern rammed earth architecture.Based on the case study,the author combined with modern rammed earth architecture design,and summarized the characteristics from three aspects: design strategy,space construction and detail structure,and then made a prospect for the development of modern rammed earth architecture. |
