A lightning arrester is a significant device used on electrical power systems to effectively protect the insulation and conductors of the system from damaging effects of over-voltage,lightning over-voltage and power frequency transient overvoltage. Metal Oxide Surge Arrester(MOA) is widely used since its excellent nonlinear volt-ampere characteristic.In this paper, MOA resistance current test method will be described. Then the MOA resistance current test methods and instruments to investigate in Dalian, found the current test methods and instruments exist such as connection exists security risks or test efficiency is low.According to the apparatus and method has problems, the use of radio theory, SCM principles,design and improvement made by substation maintenance power box get voltage signal and wireless transmission and measure method of MOA resistive current, and through a comparison between field test before and after the improvement of MOA current measurement data. It is proved that the test method and apparatus for improved than before improving safer, more efficient, more adapt to fieldwork needs.Following work has been completed in this paper, first of all, select the projection method as the core algorithm of improved methods for researching with discussing and analysis the testing method of resistive current, second is fieldwork investigation, discussion and analysis of the actual measurement in the fieldwork encountered problems, formulate improvement methods and solve them, including of the researching of projection algorithm,structural design of wireless transmission and solve other problems and errors. Finally,according to the study, proved that the result of the study in accordance with the relevant requirements of the field test, and the optimization of the test of the former method, has great value and social significance of the enterprise.
