In recent years, due to energy conservation and emission reduction policy, power industry carry out work on expansion and transformation of induced draft fan and its inlet pipes. It is common that the actual performance of air fans can not meet the requirement when inlet pipe is different from standard pipe in power plant. In this paper,we will take the double-sided centrifugal air fan and its inlet pipes as the research subject to summarize the rules of the performance of double-sided centrifugal with different types of inlet pipes. In this paper,we mainly give suggestions of inlet pipe optimization to improve performance of fans in power plant.Firstly, the experimental data and fan design data are used to verify the accuracy of numerical simulation.Secondly, the performance of air fans is numerically simulated with inlet shrinkage pipe, inlet furcated pipe and 90°inlet bent pipe to make sure of the pipe arrangement requirement. The result indicates that, the shrinkage angle of inlet shrinkage pipe should be less than 20 degree;the furcated angle of inlet furcated pipe should be less than 60 degree; The types of 90°inlet bent pipe should be the circular arc pipe or cutting bent pipe whose cutting coefficient is greater than 0.5;The right-angle pipe is prohibitted to be used.Thirdly, the performance of air fans with three kinds of inlet airflow distribution is studied to find the requirement of inlet airflow distribution.
