With the rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT), the number of terminal heterogeneous devices is exploding, and the applications of network domain are becoming more and more diversified and individualized. These heterogeneous terminals come with many characteristics, such as large number of fields, wide range of specifications and less storage space than the ordinary ones, thus the diversification and personalization of applications are available for more services. The present major concerns of IoT are how to access and manage heterogeneous terminals, to provide a variety of services, to make heterogeneous devices and another, devices and traditional Web services can interact with each other, so as to achieve seamless connection between the physical world and virtual world. Therefore, this paper studies the above problem in the scenario of smart home.This study deals with the functional architecture and application scenarios of the smart home systems, investigates the existing WoT platforms, designs and implements the WoT capabilities open platform,and implements the functions of devices management and capabilities open for smart home. The WoT capabilities open platform accesses and manages the massive heterogeneous terminals through the CoAP(The Constrained Application Protocol) protocol stack, and packages the devices and its abilities as resources for better management. Also this study integrates extendable protocals so as to enrich its own functions for the futher concerns.In this paper, the related background and technologies are introduced briefly at the very beginning, and then the functional and non-functional requirements of WoT capability open platform for smart home application are discussed in details. Based on requirement analysis, the overall design of WoT capability open platform is given, which is divided into access control module, resource management module and capacity open module. Moreover, the function of each module is refined.Interfaces and the processes of the interaction between modules are clearly defined, as well as the the class diagrams and realization of the key functions. The test environment, test cases, test results and validation the functional prototype are mentioned. At the end part of this paper,summary of the design and implementation process of WoT capability open platform and the future research directions are raised for discussion.
