Ancient masonry pagoda is a representative of Chinese building,with a high level of technology and cultural heritage,for scientific research and cultural heritage of great value.China has a large number and variety of ancient masonry pagodas,The protection of these ancient masonry pagodas is an important work,and safety appraisal is an important part of it.Different from the industrial and civil construction,China is currently a lack of systematic and scientific standards for the safety of ancient masonry pagodas.In this paper,taking Shoushengsi tower in Taikang,Henan province,as the engineering background,the main work of the safety appraisal includes field investigation and detection,finite element calculation and analysis,and others.In the field investigation and detection stage,the basic parameters and main problems of Shoushengsi tower are obtained,by site survey,settlement observation,size measurement,building drawing,material strength detection,tilt detection and damage investigation,In the finite element calculation and analysis stage,the finite element three-dimensional solid model of Shoushengsi tower's structure is established,and the modal analysis of the structure is carried out.The structural stress under normal load is analyzed and the carrying capacity of the structure is verified.The horizontal seismic strength of the structure is calculated by using the mode-superposition response spectrum method,and the seismic bearing capacity of the section is verified.The eigenvalues of the bearing capacity of the foundation under static load and under earthquake load are checked.Based on the related work of safety appraisal of Shoushengsi tower,the method of safety appraisal of ancient masonry pagodas is put forward.Develop a flow chart of the safety appraisal's work,describe the main work processes and specific work content.Classify the safety level,and put forward the safety rating method.Finally,carry out the safety rating for Shoushengsi tower and make recommendations.
