Along with the vigorous development of maritime industry, ship navigation safety is people's attention, so it is vital that the role of marine radar in a ship sailing. X-band marine radar is one of precision measuring marine radar, which uses electromagnetic measuring principle obstacle maritime target position, distance and other information, providing accurate information to drivers who reduce the degree of risk. But, Radar often subjects interference from external noise and clutter, which causing the observer is not easy to quickly distinguish targets. To solve this problem, the paper presents a study of navigation radar image simulation methods based on electronic chart data, marine radar is designed to make navigation radar simulator compared with the actual radar, with a flexible, economical, high reliability and so on. Mariners by marine radar simulator training, not only low cost, short cycle, but also better training effect, currently used on marine navigation simulator training has become an advanced and effective new way.Electronic chart displays data as a radar image of the underlying data, because the precise performance of the electronic chart can be achieved in the corresponding obstacle chart real-time radar target simulator, quickly and accurately locate the display, and then use powerful data processing computer and display functions to achieve radar scan results. In the real world the real radar clutter is always subject to a variety of ambient noise, so this paper analyzes and studies the characteristics of the radar signal clutter. Firstly, after introducing the concepts of several common clutters several typical characteristics of clutter amplitude distribution and power spectral characteristics of magnitude are made of modeling and simulation and make a summary, and as a basis, the use of MATLAB make a modeling and clutter emulation. Currently, clutter generated mainly in the following has two ways: zero memory nonlinear transformation method (ZMNL); ball method invariant random process(SIRP).According to the current research status and development trend of navigation radar, based on the analysis of the structure and function of electronic charts and navigation radar images,this paper proposes viable software design and plans the entire software interface to be divided into the original data radar images based on electronic chart, the ship position information display, noise and clutter information display three modules. Then, these three modules will be studied. Radar image shows the original design of the module reference to the international standard format data structures required by the chart read, convert and save the display buffer memory and a method of using fast refresh the screen, real-time display of radar images; the ship position information display module requires real-time information display module radar image shows the ship in the center of latitude and longitude, heading angle and other information; clutter noise module is based on the sea clutter, rain and snow interfere with radar internal thermal noise and co-channel interference studies on the above clutter, noise modeling and simulation after each treatment effect and analyze and assess, and then under Windows XP system, using Visual Studio programming tools increased by more than four interference or noise on the analog-based electronic chart radar images, integrated into a realistic sailing radar Simulator software.
