With the rapid growth of urban population, the pressure of traffic congestion is increasing day by day, which brings inconvenience to ordinary people’s travel. How to alleviate the traffic jam effectively becomes a practical problem to be solved. Experts and scholars have put forward many traditional engineering solutions, but there are still a lot of economic costs or computational difficulties. Simulating the traffic condition through the construction of city traffic scene models with computers will not only reduce the economic cost of traditional project,but also make full use of efficient computing power of computers to realize the research process of the traffic jam problems.For the actual application requirements on the traffic congestion problem in the city, in my paper, I make full use of the framework characteristics of PDES(parallel discrete event simulation) to build models of traffic simulation system and make full use of signal timing scheme to control traffic conditions of intersections to optimize traffic capacity. According to the data acquisition and analysis on the real urban traffic scenes, I take advantage of the efficient access speed of main memory database to assign traffic units, then build the urban traffic scene model. Research reference road resistance function simulate traffic flow on the road condition. When the traffic signal lights change circularly, the application program realizes the traffic flowing in each simulation intersection. In the intersection signal timing program, according to the difference of the number of traffic lanes around the intersection,application program sets intersection signal cycle and controls the changes of traffic lights to influence the traffic lane capacity, which optimizes the intersection traffic capacity. Based on the successful operation of urban simulation system, I designed the program unit function test and verified its optimization capacity for the traffic jam in my paper. Thus makes sure the system’s correctness and reliability.Finally, I present a traffic simulation system to optimize the intersection capacity in my paper. Using the transportation in the real world as basic model, this system fitting the traffic conditions; counts simulation results to interact with the user-interface, realizes an application with good human-computer experience .It has very important practical significance.
