With the construction of Ultra High Voltage and Strong Smart Grid become national development strategy,China’s electric power construction has made great progress.As an important part of power system,substation construction plays an important role in the construction of smart grid.In recent years,with the continuous expansion of the grid scale and the construction of EHV power grid has entered a new stage of rapid development,the number of substation renovation and new construction has showed rapid growth trend,and the substation of high-level voltage,more technical difficult and quality requirements are emerging in an endless stream.With the rapid development of substation construction,the critical problems in substation construction such as the project cycle is short,the quality of the project cannot be guaranteed,the cost controllability is poor,and the incompatibility with surrounding environment,the waste of land resources etc.,has become more prominent.The smart grid in the new era set a higher request to substation construction,and how to improve the quality and efficiency of the substation construction is becoming an important issue in the development of the current grid.This dissertation studied and analyzed the application of BIM(Building Information Modeling)technology which has widely used in the field of building engineering in the substation construction under the circumstance of increasing requirements in substation construction.A brief background and significance introduction on the application of BIM technology in electric power construction was summarized,the present situation and development trend of the application of BIM technology in substation construction at home and abroad is also included.Then the paper compared the advantages and disadvantages of BIM technology and 2D CAD technology.The problems in different stages of substation construction and the application emphasis of BIM technology were discussed in detail.This dissertation also analyzed the value which BIM technology brought to the substation construction from each participant’s point of view,and then completed the overall 3D model layout,collision detection,electrical security distance check,installation arrangement of lightning-protection,drawing output of the typical 110 kV substation project via Bentley substation software which is based on BIM technology.This paper provides application reference of BIM technology for other substation construction.
