In recent years, six DOF motion simulator is widely applied in military and civilian aspects. It is used by training pilot operation as the main equipment, for its own low-cost,short training period, high training efficiency . In this paper, a hovercraft simulator is selected as the research object, and theoretical analysis, dynamics simulation and finite element analysis of its six DOF platform are carried out.Firstly, the kinematic model is built according to the structural features of the six-UPU parallel platform. And the location inverse solution of the platform is achieved. Then, the relationship between velocity, acceleration of actuator and velocity, acceleration of the platform is analyzed. By using the Matlab software,the workspace of the platform in a fixed posture is solved, and the visualization of the workspace is achieved,and the relevant envelope diagram is calculated. Secondly, by analyzing the characteristics of the six-UPU parallel mechanism at singularity location and the conditions of discrimination, the location singular trajectory equation is derived. By Matlab programming, the location singular trajectory of the six-UPU parallel platform at the fixed posture is got, and the singular points in the workspace are solved. Thirdly, according to the practical structure of the hovercraft simulator, a virtual prototype model is created. Then the typical motion form of the hovercraft is analyzed, the dynamic simulation scheme is determined. Under different driving scenarios,and kinematics and dynamics simulation for hovercraft simulator is calculated. In across the groups continuous barrier, estimating the hovercraft simulator's maximum additional load.Finally, the cockpit of the hovercraft simulator is analyzed using the finite element method,the results of the cockpit under six typical working conditions are obtained,then modal analysis and natural frequency of the cockpit are solved.Based on the analysis of the six-DOF hovercraft simulator, this paper succeeds in providing the reliable theory basis for its motion control and safety.
