With excellent comprehensive properties, polyimide has become the ideal matrix material for high performance composites fairings. It has been an investigative focus to improve the processing performance and service temperature of polyimide-based composites.As an important component of high-speed aircraft,polyimide-based composites fairing need to be pay more attention on the thermal environment and structure performance in order to be applied in the aviation industry sucessfully.The current paper focusing on three points: the manufacture processing of polyimide-based composites, the thermal environment and structural stress numerical simulation for fairing which made of polyimide-matrix composites.(1)Process performance of polyimide was analysis by preparing carbon fiber reinforced composites and polyimide is used as matrix, the optimizational resin material of higher temperature resistance were selected, using Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) result of the composites.(2) Aerodynamic forces and temperature field of the fairing were simulated at various velocities in different heights. Flow field equation is discreted by using finite volume method,the aerodynamic forces and thermal was simulated in the height of 1 km,10 km,30 km.(3) Structural thermal stress and deformation of the fairing were simulated with ANSYS.With the axial-symmetric two-dimensional model of the fairing in ANSYS and the simulation data from Fluent, structural thermal stress and deformation were calculated. The loads response and structural safety performance of the fairing were analyzed.
