With the development of Internet of Things and cloud computing,smart home is gradually applied in our daily life,which has made our life become more comfortable,efficient and convenient.Users could manage and control the house in a more convenient and effective way due to the automation,networking and informatization of smart home system.At present,because of a variety of equipment and protocols used in smart home,the interconnection and interworking between appliances are difficult to achieve.Under this circumstance,this thesis takes an investigation of the home gateway applied in the smart home system and based on those existing researches designs a home gateway which could support multiple protocol conversion.The main work of this paper is as follows:(1)This thesis firstly reviews the development and the current conditions of those studies on home gateway at home and abroad and introduces related techniques used in home gateway.On this basis,the overall scheme of the home gateway is designed.(2)The hardware of home gateway: based on SOPC technology and using altera’s Nios II soft core,the hardware part of the home heterogeneous gateway is implemented on the EP4CE15 F chip,the system of which is tested and verified by both simulations and experiments.At the same time,the peripheral interface circuit of FPGA is designed,such as FLASH,SDRAM,Ethernet module,etc.,thus building the hardware platform of the entire home gateway.This home gateway designed in this thesis not only makes good use of the reconfigurable and portable characteristics of IP soft core and the programmable characteristic of FPGA,but also makes up for the shortcomings of traditional embedded hardware which is not easy to be transplanted and is difficult to expand.(3)The software of home gateway: the protocol conversion of two kinds of communication protocols named ZigBee and Bluetooth which are widely used in the home appliances are implemented in this study.These two protocols are converted into a more universal wired network protocol TCP/IP,thus unifying the protocol standard between appliances and achieving the interworking between home appliances.To be more specific,the data formats of ZigBee and Bluetooth are firstly defined and the operating system μClinux are transplanted on the hardware platform of gateway,then the driver and application program of gateway devices are designed,finally the conversion between protocols being achieved.Lastly,the functions of the designed gateway are adjusted and verified.The experimental result shows that the gateway has the capability of protocol conversion,and the result is correct,which could meet the function and performance requirements of the gateway designed in this study.
