With the intensification of environmental pollution and the approach of the ship international convention,improving the ship’s energy efficiency has gradually become the object focused by people.Organic Rankine cycle as an effective recycle technology for heat source with low temperature,has unique advantages recycling in ship waste heat.Recycling ship waste heat by organic Rankine cycle technology,which can not only improve fuel efficiency,but also reduce heat loss and pollutant emissions,achieves the goal of energy conservation and emissions reduction.According to the characteristics of ship waste heat,organic Rankine cycle in use of recycling ship waste heat was studied.The main research work includes:1)Thermal analysis of the basic organic Rankine cycle was carried out based on the first and second law of thermodynamics.From the aspects of environmental protection,safety and economical,some candidate organic mediums were selected.The performance of each organic medium were calculated and analyzed by MATLAB and REFPROP software.The results can help to select the organic medium for recycling ship waste heat by organic Rankine cycle.2)According to the characteristics of organic Rankine cycle and ejector,the ejector organic Rankine cycle was designed.Mathematical modeling and thermal analysis of the new cycle was carried out.The effects of different mediums and other factors on the performance were investigated.The optimum working condition was obtained.With the comparison and analyze to the basic cycle,the results indicated that R601 as organic medium had the optimum performance,thermal efficiency was as high as 19.04%,irreversible loss was 16.25 kW,thermal efficiency was increased by 13.13%and irreversible loss was reduced by 24.28%.3)6S35MC type marine diesel engine produced by MAN Company was selected as the research object.A scheme about utilization of main engine’s waste heat by use of the ejector organic Rankine cycle was designed.By calculating and analyzing the established mathematical model,the results showed that the designed scheme can produce the net output power 351.62 kW and thermal efficiency was 14.73%,which can improve the ship main engine’s output power by 8.79%.4)A test bench of ejector organic Rankine cycle,with 1kW output power,was designed.Calculation and equipment selection were carried out for the experimental scheme.A three-dimensional diagram of the test bench was drawn by SOLIDWORKS software.
