As an important development direction of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)clustering, networking and intelligence,UAV Ad Hoc network becomes a new application mode of UAV cluster. For providing data with transmission path selection and maintenance, routing protocol is the basis of UAV cluster, and mainly determines the performance of UAV Ad Hoc network. With the rapid development of positioning technology such as GPS and the popularity of terminal equipment,UAV can quickly obtain its own geographic location information by the airborne positioning equipment.Routing protocol based on location information is simple and efficient, showing more and more broad prospects in UAV Ad Hoc network.According to the characteristics and requirements of UAV Ad Hoc network, this paper mainly carried on the following research work : the UAV Ad Hoc network and routing protocol is researched, and the classical routing protocol GPSR is focused that including the principle, advantages, disadvantages and scope of application.According to the characteristics of the high speed and low node density of the UAV Ad Hoc network,a sparse geographic routing protocol named GPSR-NMP based on mobility prediction is proposed through studying the UAV flight trajectory model. The UAV motion is used to predict the position so that the neighbor table is more close to the distribution of the real UAV in the physical space, and the next hop forwarding node is more reliable. In order to apply the proposed GPSR-NMP protocol better in the high-speed sparsity movement of the UAV Ad Hoc network and make the GPSR-NMP protocol in UAV Ad Hoc network environment to be stable and reliable. The beacon is reconstructed so that it can reflect the density of the network, and provide the decision basis for the sparsity screening of adjacent nodes. The mechanism of back off and avoiding ring is proposed to deal with the drastic change of network topology. The above work improves the stability and reliability of GPSR-NMP protocol in UAV Ad Hoc network.Based on the three indexes of data delivery success ratio, average end-to-end delay and average throughput, the simulation experiments are carried out on the NS2.35 network simulation platform and the performance of different routing protocols is analyzed. The simulation results show that the proposed GPSR-NMP protocol can effectively improve the packet delivery success ratio, throughput, and reduce the average end-to-end delay, which can be well applied to the sparse UAV Ad Hoc network.
