The main research of the paper is the calculation method of landslide thrust and distribution on anti-slide pile.According to the study of existing method to calculate landslide thrust and the distribution, especially the plastic deformation method proposed by Tomio Ito,an optimized method is proposed.Considering the soil arching effect around the piles, the method to calculate the landslide thrust is proposed. The plastic deformation theory proposed by Tomio Ito has taken the interaction of pile and soil into account. The theory has reflected the main factors which have a great influence on the slide thrust, such as pile spacing, pile width and soil parameters. However, the friction on the interface of pile and soil has been neglected. So,the optimization is considering the influence of friction.Due to the blocking and friction of piles, the soil between the piles has relative slip, which changes the original direction of major stress to piles. Then, the force is transmitted to pile through the soil shear strength.According to soil arching effect, the soil similar to wedge, and the arch has a great impact on landslide thrust.Assuming landslide thrust is in horizontal direction, and the arch along with the large major stress, the friction on the interface of pile and soil has been fully used, the theory to calculate circular pile is proposed.Taken the end bearing arch behind piles and friction arch between piles into account, the theory to calculate rectangular pile is proposed.Through the measured date from the project cited by Ito and measured date from 5 projects in China,the3 theory above is correct and can be used in projects. Finally, this method is applied to the design of anti-slide pile.
