The entrance highways of large-scale hydro-power project is important for transporting large-size equipment and construction materials.The roads typically are designed as high grade highways with high construction quality.The traditional compaction quality control methods for highway construction usually rely on monitoring compaction parameters(e.g.,rolling pass,rolling speed,vibration state and lift thickness)and in-situ pits sampling.These methods cause to some limitations,such as extensive management and construction delay.Meanwhile it may result in quality deviation using limited samples.Based on the previous research,using the index of compaction value(CV)to reflect the compaction effectiveness of the compacted material is easily influenced by the underlying layer materials,thus it may not reflect the real quality situation and usually causes unreliable representation of the road compaction quality.The main contents and achievements of this thesis are as follows:(1)The principle of Intelligent Compaction(IC)in highway subgrade and asphalt layer construction is introduced and its overall architecture is proposed.The method of real-time quality monitoring in highway subgrade and asphalt layer construction was elucidated.In addition,the function of real-time quality monitoring system for highway compaction based on the IC technology was introduced.(2)A new measure index of compaction quality,compaction power per unit volume(E),is created and used with other IC measurement values such as the compaction value(CV)to achieve more reliable monitoring and assessment in highway subgrade and asphalt layer construction.Compaction quality assessment models between CV,E and the compactness D were established.Based on the Kriging interpolation method,not only evaluates the compaction quality of the entire area and reduces the deviation using limited samples,but also overcomes the shortcoming as the CV value is sensitive to the stiffness of the subgrade materials.(3)Field applications were conducted on highway subgrade and asphalt layer construction,which validated not only the effectiveness of real-time monitoring and fast assessment in highway construction,but also the establishment of the integrated “operator-contractor-supervisor-owner” quality control mode.It provides an effective means for road construction quality control and assurance.
