In the field of architecture,it is generally believed that the design and construction time of the building is negatively correlated to the building quality,and it is difficult to produce high quality buildings in the short design and construction period.In China’s rapid development of the last 20 years,the design and the construction period for each project is very short,how in this short cycle design and construct high-quality architecture is the Chinese construction industry need to care about.Designed by OPEN Architecture,Qinhuangdao Gehua camp experience center design and construction cycle only a short period of 6 months,but it has a very high design and construction quality.As the first domestic youth camp with great social significance,It won the 2012 WA China Architecture Award Winner and the third China Architecture Media Award for Best Architecture Award.This makes the Gehua camp experience center become an important case in the context of the rapid development of China,in the absence of adequate design and construction time to ensure the quality of the building.In the field study and experience analysis of the Gehua camp experience center,it was found that after five years of use,the building still had good integrity and the same function as the design.Very experienced humanized open space,adequate design of young people and compelte design sense of the design details to ensure the high quality of the building.Through the study of the architectural concept and practice of the OPEN architectue and the background of the IDEAS Camp-the project user,it is found that OPEN Architecture and IDEAS Camp share open-education,and open architectural concept is the reason that the building has high quality open space OPEN Architecture’s all along concerns of people,the great attention to building social and natural,the IDEAS’ idea of adding camp education into youth education in China is the reason that the building showed a strong social value.Through the study of the evolution of the architectural design from the scheme to the construction drawings and the interior design process,the architect’s mature and clear design method and the thought process can be excavated.Through total-design method,OPEN architecure put the people-oriented design concept and the care of young people into the architectural space language and detail design,to achieve the nature involved free open space.In addition,the flexible use of the classic modern architectural language,the generalization of the architectural elements and the unity of the design elements,as well as the architect’s rich experience of the materials and details can be summed up to ensure that the design of the Gehua camp experience center completed quickly and also keep very good quality.Through the analysis of the construction process of the Gehua camp experience center project and the interview of the project general contractor,the reason why the project can be completed quickly is summarized.The extensive engineering experience of the architect and the general contractor,and the strict control of the progress ensure the smooth construction of the project,the flexible handling of the construction order and fast tracking construction method all helped to minimize the project duration.In the objective context that the building must be completed in July,Party A,architect,and contractor trust each other and work together.That is the main reason for the construction of the six months of construction.Although the success of the Gehua camp can be analyzed from these multiaspect factors to ensure the rapid design and good quality factors,Gehua camp should still be regarded as a special case in the context of China’s large-scale construction due to the special of the background,the success of the Gehua camp can not be simply copied to China’s other projects that is about to build.Nevertheless,the tireless efforts of the architects in the project are still worthy of respect the project’s control methods and people-oriented architectural design ideas still worth learning.
