As a means of active flow control, plasma flow control technology is easy to be arranged and operated, possessing the characteristics of response and simple structure. The flow around bluff body is fairly common. It is of significance for engineering and scientific research to investigate the characteristic of typical bluff body——circular cylinder.Plasma flow control was applied to flow around circular cylinder. Firstly, the current research situation and basic theory was introduced in brief. Then the influence of some factors was investigated by means of pressure variety in a wind tunnel experiment. These factors were frequency, voltage,duty ratio, waveform,inflow velocity,and the layout scheme of electrode.Also, smoke flow visualization experiment was carried out.The main results were as follows:(1)The actuation was effective to control the flow around circular cylinder. It was shown that the optimal numerical range is 100Hz to 400 Hz for frequency, 40% to 80% for duty ratio,and 22 KV to 25.5 KV for voltage, respectively. Pulse waveform was better than sine curve.(2)In a way, it was better for flow around circular cylinder with actuation when the inflow velocity getting higher.(3)It was better for flow around circular cylinder when the electrode was placed closed to the flow separation origin line. Placing the electrode behind the line was better than front. Also,there was a proper density value for electrodes to be arranged on the surface of model.(4) The conclusion drawn from pressure analysis and smoke flow visualization were consistent. The effectiveness of the conclusion was strengthened, accordingly.
