Vehicular ad hoc network has been widely studied in the academic field and been applied in automobile industry. It is a typical application of the Internet of Things technology under the background of Intelligent Transportation System.Vehicular ad hoc network plays an important role in protecting the environment, saving fuel resources, improving the driving safety and the efficiency in daily travel.Nowadays, many protocols and applications of Intelligent Transportation Systems cannot test on a large scale, which make these protocols and applicationscannot applied as expected. The method to obtain performance of these protocols and applications in the actual work condition always need to rely on the simulation test or simulation modeling theoretically,so this paper will modeling and analysis the performance of a safety driving typical protocol—Decentralized Environmental Notification Message and a typical traffic efficiency application—Central Navigation.Decentralized Environmental Notification Message is an event-driven protocol that has already standardized to make vehiclessense the presence of hazardous conditions through direct V2V/I2 V communication. The transmission of Decentralized Environmental Notification Messagebetween vehiclesis heavily dependent on the sending profile(e.g.,transmit power, and sending frequency),the destination area shape(e.g.,circle,rectangle,and ellipse),the channel contention(e.g.,hidden and exposed terminal, saturated and unsaturated loads),and the performance indicators(e.g.,packet delivery ratio, time delay, throughput, and channel utilization). We perform the extensive numerical calculations to comprehensive investigate the concerned performance indicators of DENM towards various destination areas with the presence of hidden and exposed terminals against saturated and unsaturated conditions. As one of the most important applications of Intelligent Transportation System, vehicle navigation system is used more and more widely. In recent years, the application of central navigation has been widely concerned especially the emergence of the "V2I" communication technology,so that the vehicle can upload its own location information to the navigation computing center in real time. Then computing center performs global optimized navigation using real-time traffic information, vehicle location information, latest road conditions and feeds the planned result back to the requester for the relaxation of congestion level.Due to a large number of navigation users send the request of path planning to navigation computing center simultaneously, the navigation computing center has to consume a non-negligible time delay to solve the multi-objective optimization problem with restrict to the temporal and spatial preferences. This paper takes the central navigation as an example andfocuses on how the time delay affect the accuracy rate of navigation result under different conditions(such as vehicle density,in-degree of destination, total number of intersections, and the distance length from the origin to destination).
