Defects in the material(slag, pores, cracks, etc.)in the production of bearings or gears,by the role of alternating load, the defects will produce stress concentration and rapid increase, thus breaking the material, resulting in parts damage, and even cause major accidents,so the steel production of the material to be tested. In the five commonly used non-destructive testing methods, eddy current, magnetic powder and osmotic detection method is mainly used to detect surface and near surface defects, therefore,do not consider the use of these three methods.Ray detection, detection sensitivity is high, and the structure of the parts are no special requirements, but not suitable for testing forging defects, likely to cause missed inspection.Based on the above considerations, only the use of ultrasonic testing. In this experiment, the test blocks made of three kinds of air bearing gear materials were used as the research objects. At the bottom of each test block, there was a flat bottom hole with a diameter of 0.4mm and a hole depth of 1.0mm.According to the basic theoretical knowledge, design a probe that matches a different thickness test block, and then digital ultrasonic flaw detector for testing experiments.Test results analyzed and discussed, and the design of the probe gradually optimized to achieve the three kinds of air bearing gear material for precision detection purposes. Finally, through a large number of test of artificial defects, the detection method and test results to verify that using special probe and high sensitivity of the flooding ultrasonic focus detection technology can effectively the detects in the 20mm thick test blocks made of the three kinds of air bearing gear material, but not the 40mm thick test blocks.
