Solar chimney building apply solar chimney structure for natural ventilation,its excellent ventilation system is energy-saving and environmental protection.It is expected to reduce building energy consumption and make full use of solar energy.If solar chimney building can be also used for natural smoke exhaust,it can avoid the energy waste and probably starting failure of mechanical smoke exhaust system.At the same time it is a good way to reduce building energy consumption.Nowadays,there are few studies on the practice of solar chimneys in natural smoke exhaust.Whether solar chimneys can be used into the combined system of natural smoke exhaust and natural ventilation is still a problem.Moreover,how to design their structural parameters is still unclear.Thus,this research focus on the following two parts:(1)Structure parameters of solar chimney building in natural ventilation and natural smoke exhaust include inlet height,gap cavity,and glass wall thickness and so on.Among these parameters,inlet height and gap cavity is the most important parameters in natural ventilation and natural smoke exhaust.In this part,a series of scaling experiments were carried out to study the effect of inlet height and gap cavity on natural smoke exhaust and natural ventilation of solar chimney building.We discussed the inlet velocity,the velocity at the window,the temperature profile of the solar chimney,the vertical temperature profile inside the room and the smoke movement.Results show that as the inlet height increases the velocity of natural ventilation and natural smoke exhaust increases first and then decreases,and the optimum inlet height is located near the eaves of the window.As the gap cavity increases the velocity of natural ventilation and natural smoke exhaust increases first and then decreases.(2)Solar radiation and heat release rate are the key boundary condition for natural ventilation and natural smoke exhaust of solar chimney building.By studying the effect of different solar radiation on natural ventilation and natural smoke exhaust in solar chimney,the performance of solar chimney building at different latitudes or different solar radiation can be concluded.By studying the effect of different heat release rate on the natural ventilation and natural smoke exhaust in solar chimney,the fire protection performance of solar chimney building can be concluded.In this part,a series of scaling experiments were carried out to study the effect of solar radiation and heat release rate on natural smoke exhaust and natural ventilation of solar chimney building.We discussed the inlet velocity,the velocity at the window,the temperature profile of the solar chimney,the vertical temperature profile inside the room and the smoke movement.Results show that as the solar radiation increases the velocity of natural ventilation and natural smoke exhaust increases.As the heat release rate increases the velocity of natural ventilation doesn’t change and the velocity of natural smoke exhaust increases.
