Lightning is a great threat to the operation of power grid,especially lightning intruding overvoltage into substation along incoming lines,particularly,which brings severe harm to the insulation of the electrical equipment in the substation.For the sake of safe and reliable operation of power grid,it’s necessary to calculate lightning intruding overvoltage in the construction and operation of substation,thus to assess whether insulation level of equipment meets demand,and determine whether substation lightning protection measures are proper.The electromagnetic transient simulation calculation is an effective method in this research.However,the calculation demands mastery of process of intruding wave and related equipment,components modeling method.Meanwhile,massive work in calculation and data analysis means high modeling techniques are needed.All these problems above can make trouble to the general construction and operation staff,which is not convenient to spread and application of electromagnetic transient simulation.In the paper,we did some analyses for the resistance,inductance,capacitance,distributed parameter transmission line and other equivalent models of electrical components in the presence of lightning intruding wave,on basis of this,this paper discusses the modeling method of electrical equipment like transmission lines,towers,station equipment,which need to be considered in the simulation calculation.All sorts of equipment models are analyzed and contrasted,then modeling methods suit engineering calculation are proposed.To lay foundation to the simulation calculation model of wave intruding overvoltage,we offerde two ways of lightning intruding,and summarized modeling method of the physical process and the calculation method of related parameters.Focused on a typical 500kV substation,detailed parameters required in the overvoltage simulation computing were collected,and standard model of intruding wave overvoltage calculation was established.On the basis of simulation computing results,we analyzed insulation coordination and arrester arrangement scheme,and delivered the typical substation’s insulation level evaluation and lightning arrester arrangement scheme.In this thesis,how to reduce the calculation work,improve the efficiency,and promote the modernization of analysis method need to be explored,the convenient measures boost reutilization of the standard model need to be considered at the same time.For the requirements above,we developed substation overvoltage simulation calculation and analysis platform based on the graphical user interface,this platform combined program function of Matlab and ATP-EMTP,sharply reduced manual work in the calculation process,improved the convenience in detailed analysis and design for practitioners using computational tools,and provided an effective and practical tool for substation insulation design and related assessment.
