In the vehicle system,rim is one of important components used to support the tires.The quality of rim will directly affect the stationarity,security of vehicle driving,and the service life of the vehicle.With the development of economy,the requirement of rim quality becomes higher than before,then the rim testing equipment will be multi-function,high precision and high efficiency in the future.This paper introduces a kind of on-line and non-contact measuring scheme based on Virtual Instrument technology.The run-out can be detected accurately by using eddy current displacement sensor,and the test data should be analyzed,processed,showed and stored by programming with LabVIEW software,to complete the on-line measurement.A new fitting method is proposed to obtain the calibration curve of eddy current displacement sensor,which can reduce the detection error effectively,so as to satisfy the requirement of the rim testing standards.In addition,the function of the system can be enriched and expanded in accordance with the user demands.Therefore,the proposed system has some wide application value.Virtual Instrument technology is the technical foundation of this measurement system,which is defined as combining computer with testing technology,using high-performance modular hardware and highly efficient,flexible software to complete the applications such as measurement and automation.With high performance,strong expansibility,and seamless integration,Virtual Instrument technology has been widely used in testing field,industrial automation and other fields.LabVIEW is the virtual instrument development software of NI.LabVIEW provides graphical programming language,which can shorter the software development period,and has strong data visualization analysis and instrument control ability,etc.Firstly,this paper introduces the topic source,research background,and analysis the research status of rim testing equipment at home and abroad.Secondly,according to the requirements of measurement system,this paper brings forward the design of overall scheme and key mechanisms.Then,base on this scheme,this paper gives the design scheme of hardware and software,which include the research of displacement measure method,the lectotype of data acquisition card and servo motor,the design of electrical control,and the design of software feature modules.The software feature modules consist of parameters setting module,data acquisition module,data processing module,display module,electrical control module and calibration module.Finally,the next tasks and new objectives of this project will be discussed.
