With the continuous increasement of road construction scale and the number of motor vehicles, the traditional traffic management has been unable to meet the increasing traffic demand. The surveillance lens is an important part of Intelligent Transportation Monitoring System. Only if the related characteristics information, which acquired from the object on the road, is accurate enough, can it provides effective basis for the later analysis and decision-making?automatic control and other intelligent processing methods. In recent years, with the security technology innovation the surveillance lens develops from standard definition to high definition and the working wavelength develops from single imaging of visible light to con-focal imaging of visible light and infrared light. High resolution, large sensor and aperture, and day-and-night con-focal trafficsurveillance lens will become the mainsteam of the market.In this paper, it firstly introduces the surveillance lens development situation at home and abroad and analyzes the key technologies applied in high-definition surveillance lens. Then, it comprehensively analyzes the optical system and discusses how torealize achromatism and day and night con-focal. And, on the basis of analyzing the technical indicators of domestic and foreign mainstream products of traffic surveillance lens, this paper completes the design of a Intelligent Transportation surveillance lenswhose focal length is 35mm, the largest aperture is 1/1.2, the sensor is 1 inch, and image resolution is 8 million pixels, by applying IR infrared technology? multilayer coating technology and LD lens and using the multiple configuration of Zemax to realize day and night con-focal. Furthemore, it presents a reasonable tolerance range through doing precision analysis and Monte Carlo simulation. Aslo, it carries on the mechanical structure design and analyzes the uses of the components and the characteristics of the structure. Finally, the paper tests the actual product by using OpTest7 software, which includes parameters such as MTF, distortion, chromatism, etc, and presents the actual shot film. What can be seen from the test results and the actual shot film is the surveillance lens can meet the requirements of design and employment.The innovations of this paper is:1?Analysising the performance of optical system, and summarizing the way to realizing achromatism and day and night con-focal by making theoretical derivation.Then, an Intelligent Transportation surveillance lens with large sensor, large aperture and day and night con-focal has been designed successfully, whose aperture is 1.2?image size is 1?focal shift is 0.006mm and resolution is 8 million pixels. Materials of the system are all spherical and low cost.2?The actual product has been tested by using the specialized test equipment, and the test results show that the lens satisfies the requirement of practical application. It can be used for mass production.
