Thanks to technological and economic development,human society becomes growingly civilized and people pay increasing attention to their spiritual lives.As a parallel evolving trend,People's requirements for products have changed from a need for pure functionality,and shifted up to a quest for mental satisfaction.Emotional design aims at meeting consumers' needs for both functionality and spiritual satisfaction.A fine emotional design can create a genuine connection with the users.In the field of product design,the theoretical study on emotional design can be divided into three categories.These include the Kansei engineering,the Desmet method(based on the emotional model of products)and Donald Arthur Norman's three-level emotional design.This thesis analyses the emotional design from the perspective of the three levels of emotional design of Donald Arthur Norman,then further studies the emotionally-fashioned cooking utensils in terms of the methods and sketches of design.Cooking utensils are necessities in daily life and have a close connection to our lives.Therefore,the personification of cooking utensils and its marketing relevance have a direct influence on people's life standards.Relative to most western countries,the product market in China currently neglects cooking utensils,which display a poorer emotional design than in western countries.The lack of theoretical study on the matter makes this study on the design of cooking utensils based on the theory of emotional design all the more relevant.Emotional design is the product of the human civil development,and hence a humane form of design.The rise of emotional design has driven up the standards of living.In accordance with the study on cooking utensils with emotional design,the author draws the conclusion that products that feature emotional design can helppeople have a better life and even stimulate the improvement of living standards.
