Ensuring the safety of flight is one of essential requirements for modern aviation industry.Aircraft engine as the heart of the entire flight system provides power for flight.However,the aircraft engines work under abominable environment,with the bearing parts frequently operating under severe conditions of high speed,high temperature and high load,which may incur a sudden injury or even the subsequent damage of other components.This can result in serious accidents.Therefore it is necessary to monitor aircraft engine parts especially the bearing parts so that the wear fault of engines can be fixed in a timely manner to eliminate potential safety risks and ensure the safety and reliability of engines.This paper analyzes the mechanism of wears fault and the main forms of wear-out,inspects different types of wear debris and its uniqueness.Then the paper presents the main method of detecting wear debris in oil of aircraft engine and its weaknesses,and proposed the testing method of electrical capacitance tomography(ECT).This method based on the measured capacitance value,with the advantage of being safe,high speed and non-intrusive,could reconstruct the medium distribution map of the object field to be measured through imaging algorithm.Subsequently,this paper analyzes the fundamental principles of electrical capacitance tomography in detail.A model of oil wear debris tomography was established and the experimental system was set up.A proportional amplification of wear debris test was designed so as to verify the feasibility of the experiment.This paper simulates the oil pipelines using the electrical capacitance tomography sensor.Through testing the images of wear debris of different sizes,materials(especially metal materials),numbers and location by means of controlling variables,the experimental data has been analyzed.The results demonstrated that the method of electrical capacitance tomography distinguished wear debris of different sizes,materials,numbers and location.The paper tests the metal wear debris using electrical capacitance tomography,with the exploration of the possibility of on-line testing of metal wear debris in oil by electrical capacitance tomography.
