L-Band Digital Aeronautical Communication System1(L-DACS1) is a cellular broadband aeronautical communication system. As the candidate solution of future civil aviation communication system, the system can provide a variety of ATS(Aviation Traffic Service) and AOC(Aviation Operation Control) communication services. The main role of Random Access Channel is to set up initial access between airborne terminal and ground station. The performance of Random Access Channel is related to the quality of system communication service. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, according to L-DACS1 system protocol specifications, the models of the physical layer of Random Access Channel are modeled and the performance of some algorithms and link reliability are simulated with MATLAB.Secondly, to improve the packet detection performance of the system, classical packet detection algorithms are studied and simulated. The optimal algorithm is selected and applied to the physical layer of Random Access Channel.Thirdly, to improve the bit error rate performance of the system, an improved algorithm of channel estimation is proposed by studying classical channel estimation algorithms. The advantage of the improved algorithm is verified by simulating.
