Laser power supply is an important part of high-power laser systems, and its performance directly affects laser conversion efficiency. Large-size high-power plused Xenon flashlamp is widely used in high-power laser systems. It converts electrical energy to light energy. Xenon flashlamp is a key device of laser syetem. Its discharge characteristics are an important factor affecting the output characteristics of laser power supply.On the basis of plasma physics process during discharge, nonlinear load characteristics of Xenon flashlamp have been analyzed. The channel in lamp develops rapidly in the initial stage. It expands rapidly to the whole lamp. It extinguishes more slowly than that of the development process. The plasma physics process during discharge causes the nonlinear volt-ampere characteristics of Xenon flashlamp. The impedance of Xenon flashlamp in the initial stage of discharge drops quickly, and it reaches the minimum value soon. The minimum impedance of Xenon flashlamp will last for a period of time. Then, the impedance value will rise again slowly.The parameters of main discharge circuit are calculated and simulated, based on nonlinear load characteristics of pulsed Xenon flashlamp during discharge process. Global parameters of main discharge circuit are calculated based on theoretical analysis. The nonlinear load model of Xenon flashlamp is established in ATP-EMTP by means of calculating Xenon flashlamp constant. Then, the main discharge circuit is modeled and simulated, and the specific parameters of main discharge circuit are obtained. The pre-ionization circuit is designed through simulation. Damping inductor is designed, and through flow experiment is carried out.According to the simulation parameters above, engineering prototype of test system is established. The experiments on it are carried out. Experiment results and simulation results are compared and analyzed. A lot of experiments with different parameters are carried out. The influence law of different parameters on output waveform of test system is analyzed. The inconsistency among Xenon flashlamps is tested.
