Series capacitor compensation is to increase the transmission capacity of the AC line, which is an effective mean to improve the power system stability. Because of these advantages make it become a wide application of new transmission technology and it has brought significant socio-economic for power system. The introduction of series compensation capacitance, changes the structural parameters of the transmission line. It would produce reverse current transients and low frequency components when faults occur. These special electrical characteristics in particular would bring new challenges to the distance protection. Based on the theoretical analysis and digital simulation, this article reaches around the effects of Series Compensation Capacitor to Distance Protection and points out the rapid isomerization border protection based on Series Compensated Transmission Lines problems and future research directions. The content of this article improved levels of security protection for Series Compensated Transmission Systems are of great theoretical and practical significance.The article analyzed effect of Series Compensation Capacitor to Distance Protection mainly in the fault state Series and assessed the action performance of existing Series Compensation Capacitors to Distance Protection devices at the same time. Because of the used of Series Compensated Transmission Systems, the distance protection may appear the phenomenon of transient maloperation and the condition of the reverse maloperation and the reverse protection has difficulties to set and cooperate with other protections. To solve these problems, there are many academics coping strategies and methods now, the most common approach is to protect the entire distance by subtracting the value of the timing capacitor after the series compensation be outside the area to prevent malfunction, select the pre-fault memory voltage as a reference voltage to overcome the problem of loss of direction.
