Viaducts, as an important transport infrastructure, have increasingly appeared across China. Due to the quality accidents, bridge health and safety monitoring have become a hot subject today.Through the literature survey, we found that the bridge health monitoring systems are widely used at cable-stayed bridge and suspension bridge across great river or sea at present, and relatively less to urban elevated bridge. In addition, the majority studies on sensor layout optimization are the single-objective optimization about sensor location or sensor number. The research on the target modal optimization is less, and much less on co-optimization of target modal number, sensor number and sensor position.In this paper, the sensor arrangement optimization of city viaduct health monitoring system were studied based on co-optimization of target modal number, sensor number and sensor position using Fisher Information Matrix,MAC criterion, effective independent law respectively.Taking a section of(30+40+30m) cross-linked viaduct which is the typical structure in the north section of Taiyuan West-Central Viaduct as an example,the bridge health monitoring system sensor arrangement were proposed preliminarily. Using finite element analysis software Midas/Civil, viaduct cross-linked structure of modal data was extracted. Using the above method optimization, based on co-optimization of target modal number, sensor number and sensor position, layout optimization program of its acceleration sensors about a(30+40+30m) of cross-linked viaduct is obtained.
