With the development of our country's economy, our country gradually increases investment in the aspect of industrial automation and intelligent. As a strong support method for industrial automation and intelligent, the supervisory control and data acquisition(SCADA) system is accelerating used in various industries. In recent years, China's demand for energy is rising rapidly, against the background of environmental protection and energy conservation and emissions reduction, natural gas as a highly efficient and clean energy, naturally becomes one of the focuses in the development of energy, therefore, natural gas industry has become one key development field of the SCADA system.This research topic, involved in this paper, comes from a gas company in HeFei, as the design research background, the thesis comprehensively discusses the system from the data acquisition, data processing, communication and system management. In order to make the SCADA system in the gas pipeline network to have a more perfect function, this thesis has introduced the image processing technology into the SCADA system which has made a useful exploration and attempt in the introduction of news technologies to the SCADA system. The thesis firstly reviews the development and status quo of the application of SCADA system, and then dealing with the practical problems encountered in the project, puts forward a design and solution based on image recognition technology. To the image recognition technology, RTU(Remote Terminal Unit), MTU(Master Terminal Unit), communication protocol and the configuration interface technology and other technologies do a detailed exposition. Finally, the paper summarize and give the expectation of this SCADA system.By comparing with several methods of remote monitoring communication, combined with the actual situation of the construction site, the design chooses RS485 and CDMA as communication methods in the project. The design uses T-box series of RTU models for TG200-SE, MTU models for MS-CPU32, uses Twinsoft software to programme for RTU and MTU. use ForceControl software to develop system's configuration interface.
