Because the mechanical behavior of structure can be improved significant under horizontal wind loading after setting up the strengthened stories, frame-tube structure with strengthened stories have been employed in more and more practical engineering projects in recent years.However, a weak story often appears as a result under earthquake action, which leads to failure or even collapse of structures. Therefore, it is of great importance to study the effects of strengthened stories on the performance of frame-tube structures, especially high-rise steel frame-tube structures.This paper introduces the developing tendency of high-rise building structures briefly, summarizes the mechanism, merits and shortcomings and research status of frame-tube structures with strengthened stories. The thesis uses the general FE analysis soft ware to set up a structural model on the background of The Wuhan Zhonghai International Building. The paper conducts a space dynamic analysis on the project instances which have different settings of strengthened stories. The main research work of the thesis is as following:Under the action of horizontal wind loading, compare and analyze different structural models which have different quantities of strengthened stories, connection formats between frame columns and outriggers and directions of strengthened stories, investigate the effects of these factors on the natural vibration periods, peak drift and mechanisms of the structures under the action of horizontal wind loading.Under the action of horizontal earthquake loading, different structural models which have different quantities of strengthened stories, connection formats between frame columns and outriggers and directions of strengthened stories by response specturm method. Investigated the effects of these factors on mechanical behavior of the structures and compared the mechanical behavior of the models under horizontal wind loading with that under horizontal seismic loading.The rules and conclusions obtained from the related studies which are based on practical engineering projects can serve as a reference in design for structures of this kind.
