| Light wood frame structure has the advantages of short construction period, energy saving, environmental protection, good living and good seismic performance, thus it is suitable for the use of residential housing in town and rural areas of China. However, high cost restrict the most-widely use of light wood frame construction in rural areas of China. On the other hand, despite the rich small-diameter round timber resources, the efficiency of its using is low in our country. In order to explore the engineering utilization value of the small-diameter wood, a new light wood frame construction with small-diameter round timber was developed by Harbin Institute of Technology. Small-diameter timber composite joist floor is an important lateral-resistance component of the light wood frame structure system, and the force performance needs to be studied. The aim of this paper is to study the in-plane structural performance of the floors with the small-diameter timber composite joists, and to explore the influence of the floor shear stiffness for the influence on horizontal load distribution between the shear walls.Three floor specimens with small-diameter timber composite joists were made, the in-plane loading tests on the specimens, and analysis of the floor in-plane performance were conducted. The load-displacement curves of the specimens were obtained by means of testing, and also by means of numerical fitting. The finite element model of the floor consisting of the small-diameter timber composite joists was established using ABAQUS, the finite element model calculation results and the test results were compared, to verify the correctness of the finite element model.Using FE model, parametric analysis was conducted to investigate the effect of the nail-connection spacing, the height to width ratio, the cross bracing, the joist spacing and the floor opening on mechanical properties of the floor. The finite element models of the small-diameter timber light wood frame structures were established. The finite element model was used to analyze the effect of the floor stiffness on the shear wall lateral load distribution, and shear wall horizontal load distribution coefficient of the small-diameter timber light wood frame structure was calculated. |
