Locomotive inductor receives the railway ground control signals, and then decodes to the engineer's indicator which displays the same signal as the front ground signal, provides protection for the safe and efficient operation of locomotives. Locomotive inductor's trouble-free working is directly related to the safety of motorcycle transportation, therefore that a locomotive inductor on-line fault detection equipment is developed which improves the efficiency of the inductor detection has a practical significance on guarantee the safe operation of railway.According to every property parameters of locomotive inductor, the subject synthesized measurement methods of all over the world, made a further research on both inductance value and quality factor measurement methods, provided the inductance measurement's model and the algorithm derivation in detail, and proved contrastively feasibility of this measurement method through experiment.Based on PIC16F877, the portable on-line inductance tester specifically for locomotive inductor has been developed, and has flexible and convenient user interface based on VC ++6.0 platform. The hardware system includes inductor's inductance value and quality factor measurement and its direct current resistance measurement two mainly test modules, and additional developed keyboard, display, storage and data transmission modules. The system possessed simple hardware circuit, quick measurement speed, small size, light weight, portability and is easy to be operated. PC user interface displays the data transmitted from the test system and can be inquired by different types, generates and print reports. Friendly user interface makes the test system more humane, and enhances the function of the system.The measurement inductance value scope of this system is from 10 m H to 500 m H, the direct current resistance measurement ranges from 0.5 ohm to 100 ohms, through the field tests, proving overall instrument accuracy and stability etc. achieves the desired targets to meet the field requirements.
