With the exhaustion of the fossil energy, nuclear power occupies an important position in the national energy security and development strategy. because of its safe, efficient, environmental protection advantages. The localization of nuclear power equipments is related to national strategy. The independent design is an important part of the localization of nuclear power equipment. At present, there is no precedent for independent design in china.MSR is really a large and complex horizontal heat exchanger vessel, with inner parts mainly consists of five components: the shell, two reheaters, preseparator, separator. The main design of the MSR is determine the structure of the tube and the separator, and also calculate the strength, The compacts of the structure is another key construction in the design.The author in accordance with national standards, references to other national standards and industry standards, consider the MSR heat transfer performance, pressure drop and fluid induced vibration, the heat exchange area, the number of heat transfer tubes and the way of the tube. The fluid resistance is optimized, and the risk of fluid induced vibration is excluded.With conventional design plus analysis of MSR strength calculation and performance analysis by using the CFD analysis software to analyze and optimize the steam flow distribution, The experimental results show that the steam dryness of the steam after separator is above 99%, the pressure drop is less than 88 KPa. The author designed the key structural areas by analysis and calculations, and experimental design verification and validation, and the hazard analysis, and finally developed with. using the finite element for each of the key issue to optimize the structure and special design, The stress analysis is performed on the key structure area. The overall film stress and the bending stress of the two nozzle are in the required range. And the research and development of the performance and structure of the MSR is finished, Therefore it maked the device compact, reliability, advanced technology, high thermal efficiency.
