Now the adjacent structures play a more and more important role in the development of modern cities. In recent years, it is very important to explore the elimination energy dissipation performance especially for the more and more new adjacent structures. In this paper, the Seismic response analysis of two adjacent structures connected by a metal damper is analyzed and the selection and arrangement of damper parameters are discussed, furthermore, the seismic response which under different frequencies is studied for the two adjacent structures. The main research work and results are as follows:1. With the simple adjacent system as the research object, the metal dampers connecting two adjacent structures become the connected structures. The vibration differential equation of the connected structure is established, then carry out the theoretical calculation and obtain the displacement response ratio formula. According to the formula draw the displacement response rate curve when the ground motion is simple harmonic wave. It's available that in simple harmonic wave, the two sub structural displacement response maximum values of connected structure are less than their independent structures.2. By using the self-made program, four kinds of seismic waves are selected to analyze the structure with elastoplastic time-history analysis method, get simple connected structure displacement, acceleration and the structure itself of energy consumption are less than two independent structures, so the damping effect performance of simple connected structure with metal damper is better than the independent structure.3. Research the the energy dissipation and shock absorption of two adjacent symmetrical multi-story steel frame structures and structures with metal dampers, analyze the structure with elastoplastic time-history analysis, it is concluded that the damping effect of the connected structure is better than that of the independent structure. And the stiffness ratio of damper with structure 1 is obtained according to the number of the superior damper of the connected steel frame structure, according to the above, to put forward the relationship of damper and adjacent structure 1 between the stiffness ratio and the number of layers, last its universality is verified.4. Using two adjacent 10 storey steel frame structure as the example model, by discussing the arrangement of different dampers between adjacent structures get the effect of the layout mode 1 is best when the main shock absorption control target is 1 of the adjacent structures; but if the main shock absorption control target is 2 the layout mode 4 is best.5. Using two adjacent 10 storey steel frame structure as the analysis model,the adjacent structure 1 are fixed, by changing the period of adjacent structure 2, change the frequency ratio of two adjacent structures, the adjacent structures are the same when the frequency ratio is 1. Under the action of a variety of ground motions, by using the self-made program to analyze the structures with elastoplastic time-history analysis method, get the damping effect performance are the same with the independent structure when the adjacent structures frequency ratio is 1; When the frequency ratio of two adjacent structures is gradually increasing, the displacement and acceleration of the connected structure are smaller than that of the independent structure, and the change trend is gradually reduced, so ? =1.5 the damping performance of the connected structure is relatively better.6. When studying the two asymmetric adjacent structures(the main structure is a high level structure, and the vice structure is a large area) and energy dissipation of the connected structure which is connected with the metal damper, to select the 20 and 4storey adjacent steel frame structures as the analytical model, then take elastoplastic time-history analysis for the example model, and eventually get the optimal damper connection number of steel frame structure should be based on the main shock target, at last,the damping effect of the metal dampers under different arrangement modes are compared.
